Ms. Kijek received her Bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University. During her time there she also obtained a specialization in urban education and had a concentration in Russian history. With her passion for studying history and participating in social activism, teaching gives her the opportunity to introduce students to the wonders of the past, while encouraging them to achieve exceptionality in education. She strongly believes that history teachers must take on the specific and challenging responsibility of fostering an environment in which students are engaged in critical thought about the past and its relation to the present and their own lives. When Ms. Kijek is not teaching, she loves relaxing with friends, being outside, reading, and spending time with her dog, Rigby.
